Earth is Stressed is a project that I developed in my Visual Advocacy class. The objective of this project was to identify a problem specific to the Kansas City community and design a solution surrounding the problem of our choosing. I wanted to create a project that sparked an opportunity to talk about sustainability while resulting in younger generations being excited about the fact that they can make a significant impact through minor adjustments to their lifestyles.
My goal for this project was to not create any unnecessary waste as my topic revolved around sustainability, so I primarily focused on digital media. I came up with an Earth character because I felt that people would feel more empathetic towards Earth if they viewed him through a personified lens- almost like a friend.
After developing the stressed Earth character, I created an Instagram page for him as a place to offer simple tips and tricks for people who are wanting to live more sustainably but do not where to start. I designed the instagram profile to be a launching point for sustainable living, as well as a place to find local workshops and connect with others that are hoping to make similar lifestyle changes.
